Laura Fukumoto graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of British Columbia in Theatre Production and Design with a focus in costume design. She has worked in so-called Vancouver for more than a decade, wearing many hats to survive. Since 2019 she has performed as a poet, and debuted as a playwright at The Vancouver International Fringe Festival. She recently graduated from The Writer’s Studio at Simon Fraser University, and will return in 2023 as the apprentice poetry mentor. She writes about her Japanese-Canadian heritage, queer joy, and mushrooms.
